Texas Oncology RN Job Details

  • Location: Tyler, TX 75708 (East Texas healthcare jobs)
  • Setting: Outpatient Chemotherapy Unit
  • Assignment Length: 13 weeks (Start: 1/26/2026 – End: 4/27/2026)
  • Shift: 5x8 hour day shifts (08:00 – 17:00)
  • Hours per Week: 40
  • Patient Population: Adults with all cancer diagnoses and hematology (malignant & non-malignant)
  • Charting System: Epic EMR

Registered Nurse Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of recent Oncology RN experience in a clinical setting
  • Previous travel nursing experience required
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Texas or compact state)
  • BLS certification (AHA)
  • ONS/ONCC Advanced Chemo certification
  • Proficiency with Epic charting system
  • Must not reside in Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, or Morris counties
  • Charge nurse experience preferred

Oncology RN Responsibilities

  • Administer chemotherapy and immunotherapy to adult oncology patients in an outpatient setting
  • Monitor and manage side effects of cancer treatment, including acute tumor lysis syndrome, anaphylaxis, and sepsis
  • Access and manage ports, central lines, and PICC lines
  • Educate and support patients and families throughout the cancer care process
  • Recognize and communicate abnormal lab values and changes in patient condition
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members, including social services and pharmacy
  • Maintain accurate documentation using Epic EMR
  • Follow neutropenic precautions and manage cytotoxic spills as needed
