Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Details

• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (January 26, 2026 – April 27, 2026)
• Location: Tyler, Texas (75701) – East Texas nursing jobs
• Healthcare Setting: Cardiac Stepdown / Intermediate Care (IMC) – 3 West A
• Shift: 3x12-hour day shifts (07:00 – 19:00)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Patient Ratio: 1:4
• Weekend Requirement: Half of scheduled shifts
• Charting System: Epic EMR
• Scrub Color: Dark Grey/Pewter

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent Cardiac Stepdown, IMC, or Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – Texas or compact state
• BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association)
• Proficiency with Epic electronic medical records
• Must not reside in Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, or Morris counties
• First-time travel nurses not eligible

Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in a Cardiac Stepdown/IMC setting
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms and dysrhythmias
• Care for post-cardiac angiogram, post-MI, pre/post cardiac cath, and post-cardiac surgery patients
• Administer and titrate IV insulin drips; manage cardiac drips (no titration); follow heparin protocols
• Manage feeding tubes, central lines, PICC lines, and peripheral lines
• Administer blood products and care for renal failure/hemodialysis patients
• Utilize rapid response teams and adhere to isolation precautions
• Float to units of equal or lesser acuity as needed
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including PT, RT, pharmacy, and social services
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in Epic EMR
