Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Details
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks (January 26, 2026 – April 27, 2026)
- Location: Tyler, Texas (75701) – East Texas nursing jobs
- Healthcare Setting: Cardiac Stepdown / Intermediate Care (IMC) – 3 West A
- Shift: 3x12-hour day shifts (07:00 – 19:00)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Patient Ratio: 1:4
- Weekend Requirement: Half of scheduled shifts
- Charting System: Epic EMR
- Scrub Color: Dark Grey/Pewter
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of recent Cardiac Stepdown, IMC, or Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – Texas or compact state
- BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association)
- Proficiency with Epic electronic medical records
- Must not reside in Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, or Morris counties
- First-time travel nurses not eligible
Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in a Cardiac Stepdown/IMC setting
- Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms and dysrhythmias
- Care for post-cardiac angiogram, post-MI, pre/post cardiac cath, and post-cardiac surgery patients
- Administer and titrate IV insulin drips; manage cardiac drips (no titration); follow heparin protocols
- Manage feeding tubes, central lines, PICC lines, and peripheral lines
- Administer blood products and care for renal failure/hemodialysis patients
- Utilize rapid response teams and adhere to isolation precautions
- Float to units of equal or lesser acuity as needed
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including PT, RT, pharmacy, and social services
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in Epic EMR
