Med/Surg RN Job Details

• Location: Bloomington, Indiana 47408 (Indiana nursing jobs)
• Assignment Type: Travel Nurse Contract
• Unit: Medical Observation (Med/Surg)
• Shift: Night Shift, 12-hour shifts (19:00 - 07:30)
• Schedule: 3x12s or 4x12s per week
• Duration: 18 weeks (Start: 1/13/2026 – End: 5/19/2026)
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Floating: Required within hospital and to affiliate hospitals

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent Medical Surgical RN experience
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Indiana or compact state)
• BLS and NIHSS certifications required
• Proficiency with Cerner charting system
• Skilled in starting and maintaining IVs, administering oxygen via nasal cannula
• Preferred: Dysrhythmia interpretation/management, previous charge nurse experience
• Comfortable with floating and charge nurse duties (training provided)
• Ability to work 2 out of 3 major holidays if assignment overlaps
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered); COVID-19 vaccine not required
• No first-time travelers accepted

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

• Deliver direct patient care to adult and geriatric patients in a Med/Surg observation unit
• Monitor, assess, and document patient conditions and treatment responses
• Start and maintain IVs, administer oxygen, and manage basic respiratory needs
• Interpret and manage dysrhythmias (preferred skill)
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams: IV, respiratory, radiology, pharmacy, and social services
• Float to other hospital units or affiliate hospitals as needed
• Assume charge nurse responsibilities with training and support
• Maintain accurate documentation using Cerner EMR
• Follow infection control and isolation protocols
