Med/Surg RN Job Details
- Location: Bloomington, Indiana 47408 (Indiana nursing jobs)
- Assignment Type: Travel Nurse Contract
- Unit: Medical Observation (Med/Surg)
- Shift: Night Shift, 12-hour shifts (19:00 - 07:30)
- Schedule: 3x12s or 4x12s per week
- Duration: 18 weeks (Start: 1/13/2026 – End: 5/19/2026)
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Floating: Required within hospital and to affiliate hospitals
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of recent Medical Surgical RN experience
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Indiana or compact state)
- BLS and NIHSS certifications required
- Proficiency with Cerner charting system
- Skilled in starting and maintaining IVs, administering oxygen via nasal cannula
- Preferred: Dysrhythmia interpretation/management, previous charge nurse experience
- Comfortable with floating and charge nurse duties (training provided)
- Ability to work 2 out of 3 major holidays if assignment overlaps
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered); COVID-19 vaccine not required
- No first-time travelers accepted
Med/Surg RN Responsibilities
- Deliver direct patient care to adult and geriatric patients in a Med/Surg observation unit
- Monitor, assess, and document patient conditions and treatment responses
- Start and maintain IVs, administer oxygen, and manage basic respiratory needs
- Interpret and manage dysrhythmias (preferred skill)
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams: IV, respiratory, radiology, pharmacy, and social services
- Float to other hospital units or affiliate hospitals as needed
- Assume charge nurse responsibilities with training and support
- Maintain accurate documentation using Cerner EMR
- Follow infection control and isolation protocols
