Travel Nurse Job Details
- Location: Dayton, Ohio (45409) – Ohio nursing jobs
- Facility: Heart and Vascular Unit (36 beds)
- Assignment Type: Travel Registered Nurse
- Start Date: January 5, 2026
- End Date: April 6, 2026
- Duration: 13-week contract
- Shift: 12-hour days (07:00 - 19:30), 4 shifts/week
- Hours per Week: 36
- Patient Ratios: 1:4-6 (must have experience with 1:5 ratios)
- Orientation: 24 hours
- Scrubs: Navy Blue
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Minimum 1.5 years of recent Cardiac Stepdown (SD) or Progressive Care Unit (PCU) RN experience
- Experience caring for CABG and valve post-op patients
- Proven ability to manage patient ratios of 1:5 in SD/PCU settings
- Active RN license (any state; compact nursing licenses accepted)
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- NIHSS certification required
- Successful completion of online EKG/tele competency assessment prior to start
- EPIC charting experience required
- Skills in IV start, cardiac drip titration, and cardiac strip interpretation
- Ability to float to other units, including high-risk respiratory/COVID units
- Willingness to work every other weekend and holiday as scheduled
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to cardiac and vascular patients, including pre- and post-op open heart management (CABG, valve, mitral clip, TAVR, thoracotomy, etc.)
- Monitor advanced cardiac patients with continuous telemetry
- Administer and titrate cardiac drips, manage chest tubes, and care for lung cases (pneumothorax, hemothorax)
- Interpret EKGs and dysrhythmias; respond to rapid response/code situations
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (IV therapy, respiratory, physical therapy)
- Float to other nursing units as assigned
- Document patient care using EPIC electronic medical records
- Maintain compliance with hospital policies and procedures
