• Unit: 11 West Doan Hall General Medicine (Mixed Med-Surg PCU)
• Start Date: January 26, 2026
• End Date: April 27, 2026
• Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift: Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts/week (19:00 – 07:30)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Weekend Coverage: Required (3-4 weekend days/month)
• Patient Ratio: 1:4
• Orientation: 36 hours

PCU Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Ohio RN license or compact nursing license
• Minimum 2 years of recent clinical nursing experience in PCU or Med-Surg
• Graduate of an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
• BCLS and IV certification required
• Experience with EPIC EMR preferred
• Strong communication, critical thinking, and multitasking skills
• Travel nursing experience preferred
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)
• Two professional references required (one from a manager/director or formal leader)

PCU Nurse Responsibilities

• Initiate and manage IVs, including PICC line and peripheral line care
• Administer medications and monitor patient responses
• Interpret and manage dysrhythmias, oxygen therapy, and chest tubes (Emerson/PleurEvac)
• Educate patients and families on treatments and self-care
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Pharmacy)
• Float to lower acuity units as needed
• Utilize EPIC EMR for accurate charting
• Maintain patient safety and follow hospital policies
• Participate in rapid response/code teams
• Care for patients with diverse diagnoses: general medicine, opioid abuse, organ failure, behavioral health issues
