We are seeking an experienced Medical/Surgical Telemetry Registered Nurse for a 13-week contract at a 250-bed academic community hospital known for its surgical services, advanced cardiac care, and commitment to patient outcomes. Registered Nurse Job Details

• Location: Danville, VA 24541 (Virginia nursing jobs)
• Unit: Medical/Surgical Telemetry (Med/Surg Telemetry RN)
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (Start: January 20, 2026 – End: April 21, 2026)
• Shift: Nights, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (12-hour shifts)
• Hours per Week: 36 guaranteed
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend or as needed
• Patient Population: All ages
• Unit Beds: 28
• Patient Ratios: PCU 1:4, Tele 1:6, blended 1:5
• Electronic Health Record: Meditech
• Dress Code: Any color scrubs (no casual wear)

RN Qualifications

• Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse license in Virginia
• Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg Telemetry nursing experience (2+ years preferred)
• Current BLS, HWC, and NIH certifications (required prior to start)
• Consent to random drug screening and completion of criminal questionnaire/consent form
• Ability to float to other healthcare facilities within a 25-mile radius
• Must reside at least 60 miles from Danville, VA to qualify as a travel nurse

Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality patient care in a busy Med/Surg Telemetry unit
• Monitor, assess, and document patient conditions; collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams
• Administer medications, treatments, and nursing interventions as prescribed
• Respond quickly to changes in patient status and initiate appropriate interventions
• Educate patients and families on care plans, procedures, and discharge instructions
• Maintain accurate documentation using Meditech EHR
• Participate in orientation, ongoing training, and quality improvement initiatives
• Float to other units or healthcare facilities within a 25-mile radius as needed
