Travel Nurse Job Details

• Assignment Type: Travel Registered Nurse (RN)
• Location: Carbondale, IL 62901 (Southern Illinois healthcare jobs)
• Unit: Medical-Surgical (Med/Surg) Adult, 4 Medical, 25-bed unit
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts
• Hours per Week: 36 (three 12-hour shifts)
• Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 1/12/2026 – End: 4/13/2026)
• Schedule: Every other weekend and every other holiday required

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Illinois or compact state)
• Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg RN experience (travel nursing experience preferred)
• Proficiency with Epic EMR
• Stroke certification preferred
• Ability to complete onboarding (one 8-hour day for modules/policies, up to two 12-hour orientation shifts)
• Strong clinical skills and ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced healthcare environment

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to adult Med/Surg patients, including stroke, post-operative, hospice, and comfort care cases
• Manage a night shift patient ratio of 5-6:1, including total care patients as needed
• Provide care for patients with heparin drips, wound care, altered mental status, CIWA, AKI, dialysis, and COPD exacerbations
• Perform post-operative care for patients with amputations, drains, chest tubes, and feeding tubes
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
• Document all patient care accurately and efficiently using Epic EMR
