- Location: Ottumwa, IA 52501 (Southeast Iowa healthcare jobs)
- Facility Setting: One Day Surgery – Post-op for surgery and cath lab
- Employment Type: Travel nursing contract
- Start Date: January 12, 2026
- End Date: April 13, 2026
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks
- Shift: 07:30 AM – 07:30 PM (12-hour day shifts)
- Weekly Hours: 36 (guaranteed)
- Weekend Hours: None
- Call Requirements: None
- Unit Size: 20 beds
- Patient Ratios: 1:4-5
- Electronic Health Record: Meditech
PACU RN Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse license (Iowa or compact state)
- Minimum 1 year of PACU or post-anesthesia care experience
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
- Mandatory reporter certification (Child and Adult)
- Background checks: Iowa SING BG, criminal and child abuse portions
- Drug test: 10 panel including opiates
- Recent titers: MMR, Hep B, Varicella, TB (within last 12 months)
- Ability to float to other units as needed
- Scrub color: Any (no hoodies permitted)
PACU Nurse Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality post-anesthesia care for surgical and cath lab patients (geriatric, adult, pediatric)
- Monitor and assess patients during recovery, ensuring safety and comfort
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams for individualized patient care
- Accurately document patient care using Meditech EHR
- Maintain compliance with hospital policies and mandatory certifications
- Float to other nursing units as required
