- Estimated Weekly Pay: $1460 - $1540
- Unit: Med/Surg – 5th Floor (Orthopedic & General Medicine)
- Shift: 12-hour nights (18:30 - 07:00) — Night Shift RN role
- Hours per Week: 36
- Patient Population: Adults & Geriatrics
- Patient Ratio: 1:6 (days/nights/weekends)
- Weekend Requirement: 6–12 weekend shifts per contract
- Floating: Required to float to similar units within scope as needed
- Charting System: Epic (Epic experience required)
- Orientation: 24 hours
- Unit Size: 32 beds; average daily census ~28
- Interdisciplinary Support: IV team, PT, RT, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response team, pharmacy, unit secretary
Job Requirements
- Active Oklahoma Registered Nurse (RN) license or Compact RN license required at time of submission
- Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg RN experience (travel nurse and Med/Surg experience preferred)
- Previous charge nurse experience required
- Certifications: BLS (AHA), NIHSS, CPI (pending CPI acceptable)
- Epic charting experience required — Epic experience for travel nurse roles is essential
- Requested time off must be listed at time of submission
- Local candidates within 75 miles are not accepted
- Clinical skills required:
- Med/Surg and telemetry care; dysrhythmia interpretation/management
- Rapid response/code team participation; IV insulin protocols; heparin/insulin/PCA administration
- Blood product administration; central line/PICC/port care; wound care and wound vac
- Respiratory support: tracheostomy care, chest tubes, BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, oxygen delivery
- Feeding tube care; ostomy care; continuous bladder irrigation (CBI)
- Care for renal failure and pre/post hemodialysis patients; CVA care; pre/post neurosurgery
- Orthopedic skills: ortho trauma, total joint replacement, postoperative ortho care
- Management of cardiac/vasoactive drips (no titration)
Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, high-quality patient care as a Med/Surg RN and travel nurse for adult and geriatric patients with orthopedic and general medicine pre/post-op diagnoses
- Manage a 1:6 patient assignment; prioritize assessments, interventions, and patient/family education during night shifts
- Monitor telemetry, recognize and respond to rhythm changes, and escalate concerns per hospital protocol
- Administer medications and IV therapies; manage lines, drains, wounds, and respiratory support equipment
- Provide clinical care for total joints, fractures, colorectal surgery, nephrology patients, and osteomyelitis cases
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (PT, RT, pharmacy, social services) to coordinate care, discharge planning, and patient progression
- Document accurately and efficiently in Epic to ensure continuity of care and compliance
- Float to similar units within scope as needed and provide required weekend coverage as part of this travel nursing assignment
