- Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
- Shift Duration: 12-hour any
- Schedule: Day/Evening rotation (4x10 or 4x12), includes 2 weeks of nights per contract, at least 2 short calls per 4-week schedule, and weekends. Example shifts:
- 4x10 Evenings: 1:00 PM – 11:00 PM
- 4x10 Days: 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM (Mon/Tue/Thu/Fri), 9:00 AM – 7:30 PM (Wed)
- 4x12 Evenings: 11:00 AM – 11:00 PM
- 4x12 Days: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM (Mon/Tue/Thu/Fri), 9:00 AM – 9:30 PM (Wed)
- Weekend shifts may be 12 hours, with additional shorter shifts during the week to meet contracted hours
Job Requirements
- Certification: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) required
- Experience: Minimum 1 year of recent experience in a high-capacity hospital operating room or perioperative setting
- Proven ability to float across multiple OR service lines (general, ortho, vascular, neuro, ENT, trauma, robotics)
- Strong knowledge of aseptic technique, sterile field maintenance, instrumentation, and perioperative protocols
- Comfortable with flexible schedules including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and short call shifts
- Must meet standard onboarding and compliance requirements (background check, skills checklist, references, health screenings)
Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe, organized, and sterile field throughout all surgical procedures
- Prepare operating rooms, instruments, supplies, and equipment for scheduled and emergent cases
- Scrub for procedures, anticipate surgeon needs, and pass instruments efficiently to support optimal case flow
- Perform surgical counts, support specimen handling, and uphold infection prevention and perioperative safety protocols
- Collaborate closely with RNs, surgeons, anesthesia, and perioperative support staff to ensure high-quality patient care
- Float between OR assignments as needed, including coverage for evenings, nights, weekends, and short call shifts
