Boston Operating Room RN Job Details

  • Location: Boston, MA 02215 (Massachusetts healthcare jobs)
  • Facility Setting: Inpatient Level I Trauma Surgery, Operating Room (OR West – 10 operating rooms)
  • Contract Type: Travel Nursing Assignment
  • Duration: 13-week contract
  • Hours per Week: 36 hours (3 x 12-hour night shifts, 7p–7a)
  • Orientation: First week – 3 x 12-hour day shifts (7a–7:30p, Monday–Wednesday)
  • Guaranteed Hours: 72 hours biweekly
  • Weekend Requirement: 2 weekends/month
  • Holiday Coverage: Eligible to work any holidays during contract
  • Float: Not required

Registered Nurse Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Massachusetts RN license preferred)
  • BLS certification (American Heart Association required)
  • Minimum 1 year of recent Operating Room RN experience
  • Clinical experience in kidney transplant, neuro, spine, orthopedic trauma, and robotics surgeries
  • Proficiency with transplant, trauma, and neuro cases
  • Ability to scrub and/or circulate in general surgery, robotics, transplants, ortho, neuro, spine, ENT (head & neck), GYN, urology, trauma, and organ procurement
  • Must not reside within 50 miles of the facility (travel nursing requirement)
  • Flu vaccination required prior to acceptance
  • Submit all time-off requests at time of application

Operating Room Nurse Responsibilities

  • Deliver skilled nursing care for patients undergoing diverse surgical procedures, including trauma, transplant, neuro, spine, and robotic surgeries
  • Scrub and/or circulate in the operating room, ensuring patient safety and strict adherence to sterile technique
  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the multidisciplinary surgical team
  • Participate in orientation and ongoing clinical training to maintain nursing excellence
  • Demonstrate flexibility in scheduling, including weekends and holiday shifts
  • Maintain accurate patient documentation and comply with hospital policies and procedures
