  • Facility Type: Level I Trauma Center, Teaching Facility, Magnet Hospital
  • Start Date: March 30, 2026
  • End Date: June 29, 2026
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Shift: Night shift — 3x12-hour (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM), 36 hours/week
  • Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,020 – $2,130
  • Patient Ratios: 1:1 or 1:2 based on acuity
  • Weekend/Holiday: 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule; holiday rotation required
  • Charting: Epic EMR (Epic experience preferred)
  • Float: May float to NICU, PICU, and Pediatric Stepdown within scope
  • Orientation: 12–16 hours (plus pre-start modules)

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of Pediatric Cardiac ICU (CVPICU/PCICU) RN experience required
  • Clinical Background: Cardiovascular and pediatric critical care experience required — experience with post-op cardiac surgery, congenital heart disease preferred
  • Highly Preferred: Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) experience (training provided upon arrival)
  • First-Time Travelers: Welcome — open to travel nurses and travel RNs
  • License: Active South Carolina RN license or Compact/Multi-State RN license (pending SC license may be considered with proof of application)
  • Certifications (AHA only): BLS and PALS required; ACLS preferred
  • Vaccinations: Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions accepted); COVID-19 vaccine not required

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver expert, compassionate nursing care to pediatric patients with congenital and acquired cardiac conditions in a high-acuity CVPICU setting
  • Manage post-operative cardiac surgery patients, heart transplants, VADs, ECMO, CRRT, and complex cardiac medical diagnoses
  • Perform advanced monitoring and interventions: hemodynamic monitoring, ventilator management, vasoactive drips, antiarrhythmics, and continuous sedation
  • Maintain and manage central/implanted lines, chest tubes, and tracheostomies
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including respiratory therapy, pharmacy, dietitians, and other support services to deliver family-centered pediatric care
  • Float to NICU, PICU, and Pediatric Stepdown as needed within scope
  • Document accurately and efficiently in Epic EMR, adhering to unit protocols and patient safety standards
  • Participate in family-centered care and pediatric palliative care as needed
