Registered Nurse (RN) Requirements

• Experience: Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience in Acute Neuro, neuro acute care, stroke unit, or closely related high-acuity acute care specialty
• Required Certifications: BLS and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Preferred Certification: ACLS
• Comfort working 12-hour night shifts in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
• Strong neuro assessment skills, accurate documentation, and effective interdisciplinary communication

Acute Neuro RN Responsibilities

• Provide safe, evidence-based nursing care on an acute neuro unit, including frequent neurological assessments and timely escalation of changes in condition per facility protocol
• Monitor, document, and communicate patient status, neuro trends, and responses to treatments and interventions
• Administer medications and therapies as ordered in accordance with unit standards, hospital policies, and patient safety guidelines
• Collaborate with physicians, neurology teams, therapy services, and ancillary departments to support individualized plans of care and smooth transitions
• Deliver patient and family education related to diagnoses, procedures, stroke/neuro recovery expectations, and discharge planning as appropriate
