Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – Med/Surg Telemetry | Night Shift | Portland, ME 04102. Seeking RNs with 2+ years Med/Surg/Telemetry or stroke unit experience for a 26?week travel nursing contract. Ideal for telemetry nurses and travel RNs experienced with Epic EMR and advanced cardiac/neuro care.

- Location: Portland, ME 04102 (On-site) — Portland, Maine travel nursing job
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $2200 - $2320
- Start Date: 02/05/2026
- End Date: 07/04/2026
- Contract Length: 26 weeks
- Openings: 1
- Weekly Hours: 36 hours/week
- Shift Duration: 12 Hour Nights
- Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Weekend Requirement: Mostly every other weekend
- Call Requirement: None
- Unit Size: 37 beds
- Patient Ratios: Days 1:4–5; Nights 1:5–6
- Float Requirement: Float to any Med/Surg Tele unit as needed
- EMR: Epic (experience preferred)
Job Requirements / Qualifications
- Experience: 2+ years recent RN experience in Med/Surg Telemetry or Medical Telemetry (stroke/neurology unit experience preferred)
- License: Active Registered Nurse license (state requirements apply) — eligible for Maine travel RN roles
- Certifications: BLS required
- Telemetry Skills: Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips, recognize rhythm changes, and escalate appropriately
- Drips/Infusions: Experience with diltiazem gtt, amiodarone gtt, insulin, Lasix gtt, Bumex gtt
- Clinical Skills: Chest tubes, wound vac dressings, cardiac catheterizations, pacemakers
- Professional Fit: Team player, proactive, open to feedback, and committed to patient safety
- Workplace Standards: No personal device use on the unit; follow facility dress code and appearance standards
Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, patient-centered care for Med/Surg Telemetry patients, including ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke populations
- Monitor telemetry, interpret rhythms/strips, and communicate clinical changes promptly to the care team
- Administer medications and manage IV therapies and continuous infusions per provider orders and unit protocols
- Perform focused neuro and cardiac assessments and support evidence-based stroke monitoring and care pathways
- Provide skilled care for patients with chest tubes, pacemakers, post-cath needs, and complex wound care (including wound vacs)
- Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in Epic EMR
- Float to other Med/Surg Tele units based on staffing and patient care needs
- Support a collaborative, fast-paced unit culture with a “jump in and help” mindset
