• Unit Focus: Med/Surg Tele with PCU coverage as needed
• Floating: Float to other Med/Surg units as needed
• Patient Population: Adults & Geriatrics
• Typical Census: 12 beds / 12 census
• Charting: Epic (EHR)

• Orientation: 72 hours

Registered Nurse (RN) Requirements

• Experience: 2 years of recent RN experience (must meet recent experience requirements); at least 1 year of current Med/Surg Tele specialty experience
• License: Active RN license (Ohio or Compact) in hand at time of submission
• Certifications: BLS (AHA)
• Required Skills: Med/Surg Tele nursing, telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia recognition/management, IV therapy, central/peripheral line care, blood product administration, heparin protocols
• Preferred (not required): Oncology nursing experience
• Required Systems Experience: Epic charting

Med/Surg Tele RN Responsibilities

• Provide safe, evidence-based patient care as a Med/Surg Tele Registered Nurse for Med/Surg Tele and occasional PCU/stepdown patients, including oncology and non-oncology diagnoses
• Perform continuous/interval telemetry monitoring and respond appropriately to rhythm changes, dysrhythmias, and clinical deterioration
• Administer medications and therapies per protocol, including heparin protocols, IV insulin protocols, PCA, and non-titrated cardiac drips as applicable
• Manage complex lines and access devices (PICC/central lines, peripheral IVs) and perform phlebotomy/IV starts as needed
• Support respiratory care needs including CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, tracheostomy care, oxygen delivery devices, and ABG interpretation support
• Provide care for patients with varied diagnoses (e.g., COPD, CHF, sepsis, pneumonia, abnormal labs, oncology workups, chemo-related admissions)
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary partners (pharmacy, respiratory, PT, radiology, rapid response, social services, transportation, interpretation services) to support quality outcomes
• Maintain safety and professionalism in a secure corrections-unit environment, working alongside corrections officers and following access/safety procedures
• Document accurately and timely in Epic and follow unit policies for isolation precautions/PPE and patient safety
