Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – Cardiac Stepdown/PCU – 12-hr Nights in Bangor, ME. Night-shift telemetry RN needed with cardiac, neuro, trauma and progressive care experience.

This on-site travel nursing contract provides hands-on experience with high-acuity cardiac, neuro, trauma, and medical/surgical patients while offering a competitive weekly rate and the lifestyle benefits of living in Maine.

- Facility: Level II Trauma Center, 411 beds
- Unit: Intermediate Care Unit / Cardiac Stepdown (12 beds)
- Start Date: April 14, 2026
- End Date: July 11, 2026
- Duration: 13 weeks (travel contract)
- Shift: 12 Hour Nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) — night shift RN / overnight telemetry
- Hours per Week: 36 (guaranteed)
- Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $2040 – $2150
- Employment Type: Travel Contract (On-Site)
- Scrub Color: Any, must be professional
- Parking: Free in designated areas
Job Requirements / Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 1 year of Intermediate/PCU/Stepdown level of care experience required; if only Med/Surg experience with some PCU exposure, 2 years required
- Travel Experience: First-time travelers must have completed at least two (2) prior 13-week assignments
- Licensure: Active RN license (state of practice)
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS required; AACN and/or CCRN preferred
- Clinical Skills: Cardiac telemetry monitoring, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trauma experience, stroke care, Q2H neuro checks, cardiac drips (Amiodarone, Cardizem), titratable insulin infusions, high-flow O2, chest tubes, wound vacs, BiPAP, trach care and suctioning, IV starts, drain/ostomy care, temporary pacemakers, TR bands, post femoral sheath care
- Charting / EHR: Cerner experience highly preferred (electronic health record, documentation accuracy)
- Leadership: Indicate any prior charge nurse or shift-lead experience

Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, evidence-based nursing care for cardiac stepdown and intermediate care patients (STEMI, NSTEMI, CHF, Afib with RVR, post-cardiac cath, post-ablation, post-TAVR)
- Provide care for neuro/trauma and high-acuity medical-surgical patients (stroke, stable craniotomies, CIWA, seizures, sepsis, respiratory illnesses)
- Perform continuous cardiac rhythm interpretation and telemetry monitoring; recognize and escalate clinical deterioration promptly
- Manage and titrate ordered infusions and protocols (cardiac drips, titratable insulin) and document per unit standards
- Conduct focused assessments, frequent neuro checks, and thorough respiratory assessments
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members (RT, hospitalists, phlebotomy, resource nurse, PT/OT, IV/VAT team) to ensure timely interventions
- Maintain accurate medication administration and documentation in the EHR (Cerner) following unit policies and safety protocols
- Float to ED, ICU, or CCU as needed for intermediate care/stepdown assignments
