Pediatric OR RN Requirements

• Experience: 3 years RN experience required, including 2+ years recent pediatric operating room / perioperative experience
• Recent Travel Requirement: Prior travel assignment experience within the last 12 months required
• License: Active California RN license (CA Registered Nurse)
• Education: BSN required
• Certifications: AHA BLS required; ACLS and PALS required
• Trauma Experience: Trauma Level I or Level II experience required
• Circulating Competency: Ability to independently circulate in at least 3 of the following services:
  • General Surgery
  • Neurology
  • Orthopedics/Spine
  • Otolaryngology (ENT) / Airway
  • GU (Urology)
  • Plastics
  • Ophthalmology
  • Cardiac
• Charting/EMR: Epic experience preferred
• Preferred: CNOR; proficient in scrubbing; prior charge experience; teaching-hospital experience
• Vaccination: COVID-19 vaccination and booster required (medical/religious exemptions only)

Key Responsibilities (Perioperative Nursing)

• Provide safe, high-quality perioperative nursing care for pediatric patients across assigned surgical specialties.
• Circulate cases independently, ensuring sterile technique, accurate counts, time-outs, specimen handling/labeling, and adherence to OR safety standards.
• Support a multidisciplinary, team-based model and collaborate effectively with surgeons, anesthesia, scrub team, and perioperative leadership.
• Anticipate procedural needs, coordinate resources, and troubleshoot intraoperative issues to maintain efficient room flow and patient safety.
• Document intraoperative care accurately in the EMR and deliver thorough handoffs.
• Demonstrate flexibility to float between surgical suites/campuses when qualified, helping meet patient and operational needs.
