Core Responsibilities (Travel Occupational Therapist)

  • Provide skilled occupational therapy evaluation and treatment across inpatient and outpatient rehab settings.
  • Deliver evidence-based OT interventions for orthopedic, neurological, cardiac, post-surgical, ICU, and emergency patients.
  • Implement ADL training, functional mobility programs, safety assessments, adaptive equipment recommendations, and discharge planning focused on functional independence.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary rehab team members, including physical therapy and ancillary services, to coordinate patient-centered care.
  • Educate patients, families, and caregivers on home exercise programs, adaptive strategies, and community resources.
  • Accurately document evaluations, progress notes, and plans of care in the EMR in a timely manner (experience with any EMR; Altera preferred).
  • Note: Biofeedback, e-stim, TENS, and ultrasound are not required for this role.

Job Requirements & Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of Occupational Therapy clinical experience required.
  • Active Texas Occupational Therapist license (must be in-hand at submission) — essential for Texas OT jobs.
  • Current NBCOT certification.
  • BLS (AHA) certification required.
  • Experience with electronic medical records (any system; Altera preferred).
  • Ability to complete required lab items within 72 hours of offer acceptance.
  • Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions accepted); COVID-19 vaccine not required.
  • Facility-conducted drug screen upon arrival (includes marijuana; positive result will cancel assignment).
  • Community hospital and prior travel assignment experience preferred.
