Job Details
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,320 – $1,420
- Position: Travel Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) / Pediatric Respiratory Therapist
- Location: 7700 Floyd Curl Dr, San Antonio, TX 78229 (On-site) — San Antonio Medical Center
- Setting: Hospital-based (Pediatrics, PICU, NICU Level 3/4, Pediatric ED, Pediatric Surgery, Pediatric Oncology/BMT)
- Start Date: 02/10/2026
- End Date: 05/12/2026
- Contract Length: 13 weeks (travel respiratory therapist assignment)
- Shift: 12-hour nights (18:30–07:00)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Weekend Requirement: At least 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
- EMR: Meditech
- Dress Code: Olive/sage scrub top with black scrub bottoms (all black accepted)
Job Requirements / Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 1 year recent pediatric critical care experience in PICU or Level 3/Level 4 NICU required
- Licensure: Active Texas Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license required
- Credential: RRT preferred (CRT accepted); Registered Respiratory Therapist credential preferred
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, PALS required
- Clinical Skills: Ventilator management, non-invasive ventilation (BiPAP/V60), HFNC (Vapotherm/Blender HFNC), airway clearance therapies, ABG collection/analysis, pediatric airway management, high-acuity critical care respiratory support
- Equipment Experience: Servo U with NAVA, Avea Ventilator, V60 noninvasive, Vapotherm, Vest CPT, Redbox IPV, MetaNeb, Cough Assist, Percussor CPT
- Team Fit: Flexible, dependable, collaborative — able to thrive in high-acuity, team-based pediatric and neonatal environments
Responsibilities
- Provide respiratory care to pediatric and neonatal patients across multiple units: Pediatric ED, PICU, PIMC, Pediatric Surgery, Pediatric Oncology/BMT, and Level 4 NICU
- Perform and manage therapies: nebulizer treatments, airway clearance, BiPAP, ventilator support, HFNC, bronchial hygiene, and ABG sampling
- Operate, configure, and troubleshoot advanced respiratory equipment and neonatal/pediatric ventilators
- Deliver advanced ventilator management and critical care respiratory interventions for pediatric and neonatal patients
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately in the Meditech EMR
- Respond to respiratory emergencies, participate in rapid responses, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Float to adult areas on a voluntary basis as needed and maintain flexibility across units
- Maintain compliance with hospital policies, infection prevention standards, and unit workflows
