Required Qualifications

  • Current state licensure or eligibility for Missouri SLP licensure
  • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) required
  • BLS (American Heart Association) required prior to first shift
  • Minimum 1 year clinical experience in hospital, inpatient rehab, or acute care SLP roles
  • Proven clinical documentation skills and EMR proficiency (daily notes, progress reports, charge entry)
  • Strong interdisciplinary communication and patient advocacy skills
  • Commitment to patient safety, confidentiality, and evidence-based practice

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive evaluations of speech, language, cognition, and swallowing (dysphagia) including bedside assessments and instrumental referrals as needed
  • Develop, implement, and adjust individualized, evidence-based treatment plans
  • Provide individual, concurrent, and group therapy focused on communication, cognition, and swallowing management
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (PT, OT, nursing, case management) to plan safe discharges and care transitions
  • Educate patients, families, and caregivers; create and instruct on home exercise programs and long-term management strategies
  • Complete timely, clear, and compliant medical record documentation, including progress notes and discharge summaries
  • Promote patient and staff safety by following hospital policies and infection control standards
  • Supervise students and participate in clinical education and professional development as assigned
