Med/Surg Telemetry RN Job Details

• Shift: Night shift, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
• Shift Duration: 12-hour nights
• Hours per Week: 36
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend

• Floating: Yes, within scope to like units as needed

Registered Nurse (RN) Requirements

• Experience: 2+ years of recent Med/Surg Telemetry RN experience (tele competency required)
• License: Active South Carolina RN license or active Compact RN license (must be active prior to start)
• Certifications: BLS (required), ACLS (required); NIHSS (preferred)
• Preferred Background: Charge nurse experience and/or community hospital experience
• Key Clinical Skills: Telemetry monitoring (on-unit and/or remote), dysrhythmia interpretation/management, cardiac care basics (post-MI, pre/post cardiac cath), heparin protocols, blood product administration, central/PICC line care, wound care/wound vac, trach care, oxygen delivery (including HFNC), chest tube/drain management, isolation/PPE

Med/Surg Telemetry RN Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, evidence-based nursing care on a Med/Surg Telemetry unit with a focus on cardiac monitoring and early recognition of clinical deterioration
• Interpret telemetry rhythms, escalate concerns appropriately, and collaborate with rapid response/code teams when indicated
• Administer medications and therapies per protocol, including anticoagulation pathways and blood products as ordered
• Complete comprehensive assessments, develop/update care plans, and document accurately in Epic
• Care for common Med/Surg and telemetry-related conditions (CAD, CVA/TIA, diabetes, HTN, seizure disorders, renal disease)
• Coordinate care with interdisciplinary partners (PT, RT, pharmacy, phlebotomy, social services) to support safe transitions and discharge planning
• Float to like units within scope to support staffing needs while maintaining quality and patient safety
