Job Requirements / Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (state required per assignment; compact RN eligible candidates encouraged to apply)
  • Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience (ICU and IMC level care preferred)
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications
  • Ability to work 12-hour day shifts and every other weekend
  • Strong critical thinking, patient assessment, and communication skills
  • Experience with ventilator management, hemodynamic monitoring, central lines, and complex medication administration is a plus
  • Prior LTAC / LTACH or long-term acute care ICU experience beneficial for this critical care nursing role

Key Responsibilities (ICU RN / Critical Care Nurse)

  • Deliver high-quality critical care nursing to medically complex patients in a Long-Term Acute Care (LTAC / LTACH) ICU setting
  • Monitor, assess, and document patient status, changes, and progress throughout each shift using critical care best practices
  • Administer medications, IV therapies, ventilator adjustments, and other interventions as ordered
  • Perform advanced nursing assessments, hemodynamic monitoring, and respond to patient deterioration per protocol
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (physicians, respiratory therapy, rehab, case management, wound care) to optimize patient outcomes and transitions of care
  • Support safe transitions, discharge planning, and provide patient/family education specific to long-term acute care
  • Maintain accurate, timely charting and adhere to hospital policies, infection control, and critical care documentation standards
