Travel RN – Med/Surg Tele RN needed in Washington, DC (20007). 13-week travel nursing job providing post-operative care on a specialized Plastic Surgery & Limb Salvage unit. Must have an active DC RN license and Med/Surg Tele experience. Great Washington, DC travel nursing opportunity near the Potomac River and cultural amenities.

- Location: Washington, DC 20007 (Washington DC travel nursing)
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks
- Start Date: April 6, 2026
- End Date: July 6, 2026
- Employment Type: Travel Contract (On-Site)
- Unit: 16-bed Plastic Surgery & Limb Salvage (all private rooms)
- Shift: Rotating 12-hour shifts (Day: 07:00–19:30 & Night: 19:00–07:30); flexibility required
- Hours per Week: 36
- Patient Ratio: 1:6
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (no on-call)
- Charting System: Cerner EMR (experience preferred)
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,710–$1,800
- Flu Vaccine: Required (no exemptions)
Qualifications / Job Requirements
- Active DC Registered Nurse (RN) license in hand at time of submission
- BLS (AHA) certification required
- Minimum 2 years recent RN experience in Med/Surg Tele or Surgical Telemetry (Med/Surg Tele RN, Med Surg Telemetry RN)
- Demonstrated experience with wound care, wound VAC management, and surgical drains (Plastic Surgery RN, Limb Salvage RN)
- Experience with Cerner EMR charting
- Must pass Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam (min 80% overall; 100% on lethal rhythms)
- At least 1 completed travel assignment if RN experience is under 4 years
- Ability to float to units of equivalent or lower acuity as needed
- Flu vaccine required; assignment may involve contact with COVID-positive patients
Responsibilities – Clinical & Telemetry Nursing
- Provide high-quality, patient-centered post-operative care for adults and geriatrics after reconstructive plastic surgery and diabetic limb salvage procedures
- Perform comprehensive wound care, manage wound VACs, surgical drains, and complex dressings
- Monitor and interpret telemetry strips, manage dysrhythmias, and escalate care using rapid response/code teams as appropriate
- Administer medications, blood products, and therapies safely and per protocol
- Initiate and maintain peripheral IVs, central lines, and PICC lines; perform phlebotomy and port management
- Provide tracheostomy care, chest tube management, and feeding tube care when indicated
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including NP/MD, PT/OT, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and case management
- Document accurately and efficiently in Cerner EMR (electronic medical record)
- Support infection prevention, isolation precautions, and appropriate PPE use
- Float to comparable or lower-acuity units as required
