- Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,870–$3,020
- Patient Population: Adults (heart failure / VAD / LVAD; unit detail: destination therapy mostly)
Job Requirements (RN – CVICU / VAD Coordinator)
- Experience: 3 years of Registered Nurse (RN) experience required (may screen candidates with 2 years); VAD/LVAD, CVICU, advanced cardiac, cardiothoracic, or heart failure experience strongly preferred
- License: Active Michigan RN license in hand at time of submission (non-compact)
- Certifications: BLS required; VAD-C preferred
- Charting: Epic experience required
- Skills: Strong clinical triage, independent judgment, and comfort managing urgent issues via phone/telehealth and patient portal messaging
- References: Two manager/supervisor references required
Responsibilities (VAD/LVAD Nursing, Telehealth Triage, Patient Education)
- Serve as an expert resource for VAD/LVAD equipment, alarms, and troubleshooting across clinic and procedural areas
- Provide comprehensive patient and caregiver education and staff training on VAD devices, emergency response, and safety protocols
- Triage and manage routine and urgent patient needs via telehealth, emergency phone line, and patient portal messaging
- Support clinic visits for destination therapy and LVAD/VAD patients
- Perform device downloads, assess equipment integrity, and coordinate escalation to device manufacturers as needed
- Support emergency patient management over the phone and guide appropriate next steps for evaluation and care
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe, timely, and patient-centered VAD care
- Work primarily outpatient (approximately 80%) with periodic support in OR/procedural settings
