- Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,250 – $2,370

- Duration: 16 weeks (minimum 13 weeks considered)
- Shift: 12-hour nights (19:00 – 07:00)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Unit: Labor & Delivery — 10 beds; 200–300 births/month
- Patient Ratios: 1:2 (days, nights, weekends)
- Orientation: 16 hours general, 36 hours unit-specific
- Charting/EHR: Cerner (experience preferred)
- Flu Vaccine: Required (medical/religious exemptions allowed)
Qualifications / Job Requirements
- Active RN license (pending license accepted with submission; must be active before start)
- Minimum 2 years recent Labor & Delivery RN experience (obstetric nurse or maternity nurse experience required)
- Previous charge nurse experience required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, NIHSS
- Preferred certifications: AWHONN Intermediate/Advanced, Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM)
- Clinical skills: high-risk antepartum care, EFM (external/internal), IUPC, NSTs, C-section circulating/recovery
- Ability to float to Antepartum as needed and to work some holidays/weekends
- On-site drug screening required prior to assignment
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive L&D nursing care including triage, antepartum, labor, circulating, and transition (no postpartum assignment)
- Perform and document obstetric assessments, sterile vaginal exams, reflex/clonus checks, and continuous fetal surveillance
- Manage IV therapy, infusion pumps, and medication drips (e.g., Pitocin, magnesium sulfate, antihypertensives, terbutaline)
- Interpret and respond to electronic fetal monitoring (EFM) patterns; recognize and intervene for abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
- Circulate and recover C-section patients; assist with vaginal and operative deliveries and emergent/high-risk deliveries
- Support newborn stabilization including APGAR scoring, thermoregulation, security banding, and safe handoff to newborn/NICU teams
- Collaborate with OB/GYN physicians, anesthesia, NICU/newborn teams, and interdisciplinary staff to ensure patient safety and quality outcomes
- Maintain compliance with facility policies, infection control, and PPE protocols
