Job Requirements / Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas or compact state (required for Texas nursing jobs)
- BLS certification (American Heart Association required)
- Minimum 1 year clinical experience in Med/Surg or related nursing specialty preferred
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Epic electronic health record (EHR) / Epic charting experience preferred
- Experience with trach/vent and high-flow oxygen therapy recommended
- Rehab nursing experience recommended but not required
Core Responsibilities
- Provide routine and complex nursing care to a diverse inpatient med/surg population across rehab, surgical, and respiratory units
- Apply the nursing process for assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation
- Administer medications and treatments safely; monitor patients for therapeutic response and side effects
- Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and nursing care using Epic (preferred) or facility EHR
- Assess patient and family learning needs and provide education on disease management, procedures, and discharge planning
- Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families in a patient-centered care model
- Delegate appropriately to nursing assistive personnel and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to manage clinical situations effectively
