Job Requirements
- Associate of Science in Nursing required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Oregon
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS
- TNCC certification required
- At least 1 year of experience in an operating room or perioperative setting preferred (Perioperative Nurse / OR RN experience)
- Proven ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced surgical environment
- Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills for effective collaboration with surgical teams
- Commitment to providing empathetic, culturally competent, and ethical patient care
Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, effective, and quality patient- and family-centered care in the operating room and perioperative services (surgical nursing)
- Serve as a patient advocate and supervise assigned personnel when needed
- Implement, document, and update the plan of care, ensuring patient safety and protection from injury
- Perform accounting procedures to prevent retained surgical items and participate in surgical counts
- Ensure correct site, side, and level verification (time-out procedures) for all surgical cases
- Manage patient specimens and documentation according to policy
- Administer medications safely and monitor the patient’s physiological status throughout perioperative care
- Implement infection prevention strategies to protect patients from surgical site infections
- Maintain patient rights, dignity, and privacy during all phases of surgical care
- Collaborate effectively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, surgical techs, and multidisciplinary teams
- Maintain required competencies, pursue professional growth, and complete mandatory education
- Float to other departments as qualified, if needed
