Qualifications / Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Maryland (MD)
- Minimum 2 years of recent stroke experience — stroke nurse experience preferred
- BLS certification (American Heart Association)
- Proficiency in EKG interpretation and clinical telemetry monitoring
- Familiarity with Modified Rankin Scale (mRS) and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) assessments
- Strong communication, clinical judgment, and teamwork skills
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care on a Med/Surg Telemetry unit as a Telemetry Nurse / Med-Surg RN
- Monitor and accurately interpret EKGs and continuous telemetry readings
- Assess and manage patients with acute stroke using NIHSS and mRS tools; act as a clinical resource for stroke care
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (physicians, therapists, case managers) to develop and implement individualized patient care plans
- Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the electronic health record precisely and timely
- Provide patient and family education on diagnosis, treatment plans, and recovery expectations
- Maintain a safe, compassionate, and recovery-focused environment for patients and staff
