Qualifications / Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Maryland (MD)
• Minimum 2 years of recent stroke experience — stroke nurse experience preferred
• BLS certification (American Heart Association)
• Proficiency in EKG interpretation and clinical telemetry monitoring
• Familiarity with Modified Rankin Scale (mRS) and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) assessments
• Strong communication, clinical judgment, and teamwork skills

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care on a Med/Surg Telemetry unit as a Telemetry Nurse / Med-Surg RN
• Monitor and accurately interpret EKGs and continuous telemetry readings
• Assess and manage patients with acute stroke using NIHSS and mRS tools; act as a clinical resource for stroke care
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (physicians, therapists, case managers) to develop and implement individualized patient care plans
• Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the electronic health record precisely and timely
• Provide patient and family education on diagnosis, treatment plans, and recovery expectations
• Maintain a safe, compassionate, and recovery-focused environment for patients and staff
