We are seeking an experienced Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) RN / pediatric critical care nurse for a travel assignment to provide exceptional care to critically ill children in a family-centered, state-of-the-art environment. This travel nurse opportunity is ideal for Registered Nurses with strong PICU and cardiac critical care experience who want to work alongside a multidisciplinary team.

- Assignment Type: Travel Contract / Travel Nurse Position
- Duration: 13 weeks (April 6, 2026 – July 6, 2026)
- Shifts: Rotating Day/Night, 3x12-hour shifts per week (07:00–19:30 or 19:00–07:30), includes every other weekend
- Hours per Week: 36
- Unit: Pediatric ICU (PICU), mixed with CVPICU patients
- Patient Population: Neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents
- Daily Census / Beds: Daily census ~18; 25 beds
- Orientation: Comprehensive onboarding and ongoing clinical support for travel nurses
- Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $2,290–$2,410
Qualifications / Job Requirements
- Minimum 2 years recent acute care PICU experience within the last 3 years (required) — pediatric critical care nursing experience is essential
- Solid experience in Pediatric ICU and Cardiac ICU/Stepdown (required) — experience with CVPICU patients preferred
- Experience with Epic electronic health record (preferred within last 12 months)
- Basic arrhythmia recognition and telemetry experience (must pass Telemetry test prior to start)
- Active Wisconsin RN license or current compact RN license (must be in hand at submission)
- Current BLS and PALS certifications (American Heart Association only)
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Must live at least 50 miles from the facility (local applicants not accepted per facility policy)
- Ability to float to NICU and general pediatric units as needed
Responsibilities
- Provide family-centered, high-acuity care to critically ill or injured children in the PICU as a PICU RN / pediatric critical care nurse
- Manage patients with neurologic injuries, pulmonary disease, cardiac anomalies, organ transplants, multi-organ failure, and ECMO support
- Utilize advanced critical care skills including hemodynamic monitoring, ventilator management, CRRT, VAD care, and ECMO circuit management
- Interpret and manage dysrhythmias, administer antiarrhythmics, and perform accurate pediatric dosage calculations
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams: respiratory therapy, IV therapy, pharmacy, physical/occupational therapy, social work, and physicians
- Participate in rapid response, code situations, and emergency pediatric resuscitation
- Maintain timely, accurate documentation using Epic and adhere to infection control/isolation precautions
- Float to other units as required based on staffing and patient acuity
