- Assignment Type: Travel Contract (Travel RN / NICU RN)
- Start Date: April 6, 2026
- End Date: July 6, 2026
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Shifts: 3x12-hour rotating shifts per week (Day: 7:00am–7:30pm; Night: 7:00pm–7:30am); availability required for 2–3 weekends per 6-week schedule
- Hours per Week: 36
- Patient Population: Neonates in a 26-bed Level IV NICU (neonatal intensive care, complex medical & surgical patients)
- Floating: Required to float to all pediatric units, including PICU; caring for patients under 12 months of age
Job Requirements / Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of NICU Level III/IV experience within the last 3 years (at least 1 full year in a Level IV NICU required)
- Active Wisconsin RN license or multistate compact RN license (must have license in hand at submission)
- BLS certification (American Heart Association)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required
- Basic arrhythmia/telemetry experience; must pass Telemetry exam prior to start
- Electronic charting experience (Epic preferred within the last 12 months)
- Prior Travel RN / travel nurse experience required
- Permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the facility
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions accepted); COVID-19 vaccine not required
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill neonates and infants, including complex medical and post-surgical cases
- Manage post-op patients, g-tubes, tracheostomy/ventilator care, and multiple modes of invasive/noninvasive ventilation
- Monitor and interpret telemetry, perform dysrhythmia identification and management
- Administer and monitor medications, including antibiotics, antivirals, and anti-seizure therapies
- Support breastfeeding, bottle feeding, gavage feeding, and phototherapy; manage neonatal sepsis protocols
- Perform phlebotomy, suctioning, and manage oxygen delivery systems and neonatal equipment
- Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary pediatric teams — respiratory therapy, pharmacy, social services, neonatology, and surgeons
- Provide family-centered education and emotional support to parents and caregivers throughout the continuum of care
- Float to other pediatric units (including PICU) as staffing needs require
