Surgical Technologist (Surgical Tech) – CVOR travel assignment in Washington, DC 20010. 13-week travel opportunity; DC Surgical Tech license required, 2+ years cardiac/vascular OR experience, BLS.
Join a dynamic perioperative team in the heart of Washington, DC. We are seeking an experienced CVOR Surgical Technologist for a 13-week travel assignment at a renowned hospital serving a diverse urban patient population. This role is ideal for a surgical technologist with strong cardiovascular operating room (CVOR) skills and a passion for high-quality, team-based patient care.
Job Details
- Location: Washington, DC 20010 (Washington, DC travel surgical technologist job)
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks (April 13, 2026 – July 13, 2026)
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $1840 - $1970
- Shift: Day shifts, 3x12-hour (06:30 – 19:00) or (11:00 – 23:30); majority day shifts with up to two weeks of evening shifts per 6-week schedule
- Hours per Week: 36
- On Call: 6 calls per 6-week schedule
- Weekend/Holiday: 1 weekend shift and/or 1 holiday per 6-week schedule
- Float Requirement: May float to general surgery if no CVOR cases (perioperative and OR float)
- Scrubs Provided
- Flu Vaccine Required (no exemptions)
Qualifications / Job Requirements
- Minimum 2 years recent Surgical Technologist experience, including cardiac and vascular (CVOR) surgical cases
- DC Surgical Tech license required at time of submission (Washington, DC credential required)
- Current BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
- Proficient in aseptic technique, case cart preparation, instrument handling, and scrubbing
- Experience with crash cart and Da Vinci Xi Robotics preferred
- Preferred experience across perioperative specialties: General, Ortho, Spine, Urology, Thoracic, Neuro/Spine, GYN, Bariatrics, Plastics, ENT, Transplant, Ophthalmology, Podiatry
- Trauma Level I experience preferred
- Must be able to take call and work scheduled weekends/holidays
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in a variety of cardiovascular and general surgical procedures, maintaining sterile technique and patient safety in the CVOR
- Prepare, set up, and maintain surgical instruments, supplies, and sterile fields for cardiovascular and vascular cases
- Anticipate surgeon needs and assist with instrument passing, surgical counts, and procedure flow
- Operate and troubleshoot surgical equipment, including robotic systems when applicable
- Respond quickly and effectively in emergency situations, including crash cart utilization and ACLS protocols where applicable
- Float to general surgery or other perioperative areas as needed
- Participate in on-call rotation and cover weekend/holiday shifts as required
- Complete facility and unit-specific training and competency modules within required timeframes
