- Position: Travel Nurse / Registered Nurse (RN) – Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Surgical Step-Down
- Location: Columbus, OH 43210 (Columbus healthcare jobs, Ohio travel nurse)
- Setting: Surgical Progressive Care Unit (Step-Down) – Telemetry-capable
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks (April 20, 2026 – July 20, 2026)
- Shift: 3x12-hour day shifts (07:00 – 19:30)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $1940-$2040
- Patient Population: Adults, Geriatrics, Post-surgical patients
- Unit Ratios: Progressive Care RN ratio 3-4:1 (all attempts to maintain 3:1)
- Weekend Coverage: Required
- Orientation: 24 hours
Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – compact license accepted or Ohio state license in hand at submission
- Minimum 2 years of recent PCU/Step-Down or Telemetry RN experience (progressive care experience preferred)
- Graduate of an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- IV certification required; experience with central/PICC/peripheral line care
- Must be able to pass a telemetry competency test and have experience monitoring telemetry patients (cardiac rhythm interpretation/dysrhythmia management)
- EPIC electronic medical record experience required
- Two professional references (one must be from a manager, director, or formal leader)
- Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care to adults and geriatrics in a surgical step-down/progressive care environment
- Monitor and interpret telemetry, recognize and manage dysrhythmias, and respond to rapid response/code teams
- Start and maintain IVs, administer medications, and manage central/PICC/peripheral lines
- Perform phlebotomy, wound care, and manage surgical drains and oxygen therapy
- Provide patient and family education on post-surgical care, recovery, and discharge planning
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and social services
- Float to other units as needed to support patient care and staffing
- Document all care accurately and efficiently using the EPIC electronic medical record system
