Job Details
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $2,120 - $2,230 per week
- Location: Madison, WI 53792 — Madison nursing jobs, Wisconsin travel RN
- Setting: University Hospital – Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) / Recovery Room
- Assignment Type: Travel Contract (Travel Nurse / Travel RN)
- Start Date: April 6, 2026
- End Date: July 6, 2026
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Shift: Day/Evening, Monday–Friday, 8-hour shifts (rotating start times between 6:30am and 10:30am)
- Hours per Week: 40
- On-Call: No regular call requirement (occasional need to stay past shift end to finish schedule)
Job Requirements / Qualifications
- Active Wisconsin RN license or compact license from permanent address state (must be in hand at submission) — travel nurse licensure
- BLS & ACLS certifications (American Heart Association only)
- Minimum 2 years of acute care RN experience within the last 3 years in PACU/recovery (ambulatory setting experience preferred) — PACU RN, post-anesthesia care nurse
- Epic EMR / Epic charting experience required (preferred within the last 12 months)
- Basic arrhythmia/telemetry experience required; must pass a telemetry test prior to start
- Experience in a Level I Trauma Center required — perioperative and trauma nursing experience preferred
- Ability to float to other units as needed (flexible travel RN)
- Permanent address must be at least 50 miles from facility
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions accepted)
Key Responsibilities (PACU Nurse / Recovery Room RN)
- Provide comprehensive pre- and post-anesthesia care to patients undergoing outpatient and inpatient surgical procedures — PACU nurse duties
- Care for patients after GI and bronchoscopy procedures and manage fast-track ambulatory recovery
- Administer and monitor procedural sedation, manage central/PICC lines, and provide airway assessment and management
- Interpret and communicate lab values, administer blood products, and manage pain control including PCA pumps
- Perform pre-op assessments, patient/family education, medication administration, and discharge planning goals
- Document all care accurately using Epic EMR (Epic charting experience required)
- Float to other units and locations within the organization as needed to meet staffing requirements
- Participate in orientation, competency testing, and a required telemetry exam prior to start
