Join the 5 South Hematology Oncology team in Jackson, MS for a 13-week travel nursing assignment. This opportunity is well suited for oncology nurses, medical-surgical RNs, and travel RNs seeking hands-on experience with chemotherapy administration (training available), central line and chest tube management, and complex patient care in an acute care setting.

- Unit Size: 32 beds
- Nurse:Patient Ratio: 1:5 (up to 1:6 for lower acuity)
- Charting: EPIC (EPIC proficiency required)
Qualifications / Job Requirements
- Active RN license (compact or state-specific as required)
- BLS certification (AHA) required
- Minimum 1 year recent acute care experience; Level 1 trauma experience preferred
- Experience with high-acuity patients, central lines, and chest tubes
- EPIC charting proficiency required
- Comfortable floating to other MedSurg units as needed
- Flu vaccine required (medical exemption with documentation only)
- Chemotherapy experience a plus; chemotherapy administration training available
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care to hematology/oncology and medical-surgical patients
- Administer medications safely, including chemotherapy when qualified (training provided)
- Monitor and manage lines, chest tubes, and titrate drips as ordered (e.g., heparin)
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, including respiratory therapy and central monitoring
- Document care, assessments, and patient progress using EPIC electronic medical records
- Participate in unit orientation; work with a preceptor for initial shifts
- Float to other MedSurg units as required within your skillset
- Maintain professional appearance and unit standards (solid color scrubs required)
