- Unit: 12 East and West – Surgical Oncology (PCU / Med-Surg, mixed acuity)
- Assignment Type: Travel Nurse / Contract RN
- Start Date: April 20, 2026
- End Date: August 10, 2026
- Duration: 16 weeks
- Shift: Nights, 3x12-hour (19:00 – 07:30); may include day/night rotation based on unit needs
- Hours per Week: 36
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $1940 - $2040
- Orientation: 1 week dayshift (Mon–Fri) + 36 hours on-unit with preceptor
- Self-scheduling: Requests accepted prior to final schedule posting
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of recent PCU or progressive care experience within the last 3 years (at least 1 year current specialty experience preferred)
- Active RN license: compact or Ohio state license required at submission (Ohio nursing jobs, travel nurse licensure)
- Graduate of an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
- Certifications: BLS and ACLS required; NIHSS required; ONS Chemo certification preferred
- Experience with Epic electronic health record (EHR) charting
- Able to float to other acute care oncology units as needed; strong med-surg and telemetry skills
- Two professional references (one must be a manager, director, or formal leadership reference)
- Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients on a busy surgical oncology PCU/Med-Surg unit
- Care for patients with diverse surgical oncology diagnoses: breast, thyroid, melanoma, hepatobiliary, colorectal, plastics, ortho, and cardiothoracic surgeries
- Administer chemotherapy, blood transfusions, IV antibiotics, insulin infusions, and heparin drips per protocols (ONS chemo experience preferred)
- Respond to oncologic and acute care emergencies, including cytokine release syndrome and rapid response situations
- Manage chest tube care and telemetry monitoring using GE B450 system; perform comprehensive assessments and documentation in Epic
- Use specialized equipment: bladder scanners, Alaris infusion pumps, and Stryker beds
- Maintain rigorous infection prevention, patient fall prevention, and safety protocols
- Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams including IV therapy, physical therapy (PT), respiratory therapy (RT), radiology, pharmacy, and social services
- Participate in self-scheduling, flexible coverage for weekends/holidays, and unit-based process improvement initiatives
