Oncology Registered Nurse (RN) – Travel Nursing opportunity in Albany, GA (31701): 12-hour day shifts on a 29-bed inpatient oncology unit. Join a collaborative oncology nursing team delivering high-quality inpatient oncology and medical-surgical care.

• Location: Albany, GA 31701 (Travel Nurse assignment)
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1800 - $1890/week
• Setting: Acute Care – Oncology (Medical Surgical) | Inpatient Oncology Nursing
• Unit: 29-bed Oncology Floor (7th floor, inpatient only)
• Contract Length: 17 weeks (March 30, 2026 – July 27, 2026)
• Shift: 12-hour days (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM)
• Hours: 36 hours per week, every other weekend required
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 per week
• Scrub Color: Caribbean Blue
• Charting System: MEDITECH (EMR)

Job Requirements / Qualifications

• Active RN license (must be valid for travel assignment in Georgia)
• BLS (AHA) certification required
• NIHSS certification preferred
• ONS certification preferred for chemotherapy administration
• Minimum 2 years of recent Oncology RN experience required (inpatient oncology or medical-surgical oncology)
• No first-time travelers
• Must live at least 75 miles from the facility (based on driver’s license)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to oncology and medical overflow patients, including management of acute oncology symptoms, thrombocytopenia, neutropenia, sickle cell crisis, hematology cases, and end-of-life/palliative care
• Administer and monitor chemotherapy and other oncology treatments per policy (ONS best practices preferred)
• Manage typical patient assignment of 1:5 (occasionally 1:6) on an inpatient oncology unit
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including charge nurses and nurse aides, for safe patient care and transitions
• Document patient care accurately in MEDITECH EMR and maintain compliance with charting standards
• Participate in a 3-day floor-specific orientation to the oncology unit
• Float to the medical acute unit as needed (rarely)
• Rotate holidays and work every other weekend as scheduled
• Support patients transitioning from outpatient to inpatient care when necessary
