- Position: Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (L&D RN) – Travel Nurse
- Location: Midland, TX 79701 (Midland, Texas / West Texas)
- Setting: On-site, Community Hospital – Labor & Delivery unit
- Contract Type: Travel nursing assignment
- Start Date: April 27, 2026 (flexible Monday start dates considered)
- End Date: August 17, 2026
- Duration: 16 weeks (minimum 13 weeks considered)
- Shift: 12-hour nights (19:00 - 07:00), 3 shifts per week
- Hours per Week: 36
- Unit: Labor & Delivery (10 beds, fluctuating census)
- Patient Ratios: 1:2 (days, nights, weekends)
- Holiday Coverage: Must work at least one holiday (eve and day)
- Orientation: 36 hours
- Charting System: Cerner (experience preferred)
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $2,250 - $2,370 per week
Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (pending license accepted; must be active before start)
- Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery nursing experience (L&D nurse / OB nurse)
- Previous charge experience required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP; NIHSS, AWHONN Intermediate and Advanced, Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM)
- Experience with high-risk antepartum, telemetry interpretation, and assisting with high-risk deliveries
- Cerner charting experience preferred (electronic medical record experience beneficial)
- Ability to float to Antepartum as needed
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions and declinations allowed)
- COVID-19 vaccine not required
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to laboring mothers and newborns across triage, antepartum, labor, circulating, and transition (no postpartum)
- Assist with vaginal and cesarean deliveries, including high-risk and multiple births
- Perform and interpret NSTs, EFM/continuous fetal monitoring, IUPC placement, and other fetal monitoring procedures
- Administer medications and therapies such as magnesium sulfate, antihypertensives, Pitocin, and blood products
- Support breastfeeding and provide lactation support to new mothers
- Perform sterile vaginal exams, reflex checks, edema assessments, and APGAR scoring
- Manage and recover C-section patients in collaboration with surgical and anesthesia teams
- Maintain accurate documentation in Cerner and ensure patient safety and compliance with policies
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members (OB/GYN, pediatrics, anesthesia) to deliver high-quality maternal-newborn care
- Adhere to infection control, isolation precautions, and hospital clinical protocols
