Travel ICU Registered Nurse (ICU RN) – 13-week Whole House Resource Pool assignment in Roanoke, VA; float across ICU, PCU, and Med-Surg at a Level I Trauma Center. Join our critical care team and make an immediate impact as a resource pool RN.

- Location: Roanoke, VA 24014 — Roanoke travel nursing opportunity in the Blue Ridge Mountains
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $2020-$2130
- Position Type: Travel Nurse / Contract ICU RN (Whole House Resource Pool)
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks
- Setting: Whole House Resource Pool (ICU, PCU, Med-Surg) at a Level I Trauma Center
- Shifts: 3x12-hour day shifts (06:45 – 19:15); 4x12s available by request
- Hours per Week: 36 (float expectations apply)
- Start Date: March 30, 2026
- Orientation: 24 hours
- Charting: EPIC (experience with EPIC strongly preferred)
- Float Requirement: Float between ICU, PCU, and Med-Surg; may float 2–3 times per shift
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week block
- Holiday Requirement: At least 1 holiday per 13-week contract
Job Requirements / Qualifications
- Active RN license (Virginia or Compact State) — ideal for travel nurses and ICU RNs
- Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience in a large Level I or II facility (critical care experience required)
- Certifications: ACLS, BLS required; NIHSS required (CPI preferred)
- Proficient with EPIC documentation and electronic charting systems
- Comfortable managing patient ratios: ICU 2:1, PCU up to 5:1, Med-Surg 6:1 (may flex up to 7:1)
- Clinical skills: IV therapy, phlebotomy, arterial/central line management, blood product administration
- Ventilator and respiratory support skills: BiPAP/CPAP management, ventilator care, suctioning
- Cardiac care: cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, titrating vasoactive/cardiac drips
- Experienced in emergency response, rapid assessment, and working without CNA support when required
- COVID-19 and Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, compassionate nursing care to adult and geriatric patients across ICU, PCU, and Med-Surg units as a critical care nurse
- Float seamlessly between units as a whole-house resource pool nurse; adapt quickly to changing acuity and patient populations
- Perform advanced clinical procedures including IV therapy, arterial/central line care, ventilator management, and emergency interventions
- Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, manage dysrhythmias, and titrate critical drips safely
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams: respiratory therapy, pharmacy, physicians, and rapid response/code teams
- Document patient care accurately and efficiently using EPIC
- Participate in rapid response and code situations and maintain infection prevention/isolation protocols
