- Location: Washington, DC 20060 (Washington, DC travel nursing job)
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks (April 6, 2026 – July 6, 2026)
- Position: Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) / Perioperative Nurse / Surgical Nurse
- Shift: 3x12-hour day shifts (06:30 – 19:00)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Unit: Operating Room (OR, 9 rooms) – Level 1 Trauma, Teaching Hospital
- On-Call: 2 night calls and 3 weekend calls per month (night calls: 11p-7a; weekend calls: 7a-3p, 3p-11p, or 11p-7a)
- Orientation: 16 hours
- Parking & Transit: Multiple parking options; accessible by Metro and bus lines
- Compensation & Benefits: Estimated weekly pay: $2130-$2250/week. Competitive pay and travel nurse benefits (housing stipend or reimbursement options available) — inquire for details
Required Qualifications
- Active DC Registered Nurse (RN) license in hand at time of submission (required for Washington, DC nursing jobs)
- Minimum 2 years of recent Operating Room RN experience (perioperative/surgical nurse experience)
- Travel nursing experience required
- BLS certification required; additional ACLS/PALS if applicable to specialty cases
- Experience in the majority of the following procedures: trauma, appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, hernia repair, laparoscopic procedures, thyroidectomy, Whipple, spinal/neurosurgeries, robotic surgeries (training available for some specialties)
- COVID-19 and Flu vaccines required (medical/religious exemptions accepted for Flu only)
- 2 supervisor references required
Key Responsibilities
- Provide safe, effective, and compassionate perioperative care to surgical patients in a fast-paced Level 1 Trauma OR environment
- Circulate and/or scrub for a variety of surgical cases including general, orthopedic, neuro, robotic, and trauma procedures
- Participate in scheduled on-call rotations (nights and weekends) as part of the OR team
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, residents, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Document perioperative care using the SIS charting system and maintain accurate surgical counts
- Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and infection control standards
- Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to learn new skills, including robotic and ophthalmic procedures (training provided as needed)
- Support the hospital’s teaching mission by precepting and working alongside residents and students
