Job Requirements / Qualifications
- Current state licensure or eligibility for state licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist in Arizona
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA
- BLS Certification
- At least 1 year of clinical experience as an SLP, preferably in an acute care or hospital setting
- Experience with ventilator and tracheostomy patients required/preferred
- Experience in dysphagia management and bedside swallowing evaluations; instrumental assessment experience (FEES/MBS) preferred
- Strong documentation skills in electronic health records (EHR) and timely completion of daily notes, assessments, goals, and discharge summaries
Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing evaluations for assigned inpatient cases
- Develop, implement, and modify individualized treatment plans based on patient needs and physician/ interdisciplinary recommendations
- Provide dysphagia management, diet recommendations, and instrumental swallowing assessments when indicated (FEES/MBS)
- Work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, PT/OT, and case managers to address barriers to discharge and optimize patient outcomes
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation including daily notes, progress reports, goal writing, assessments, and discharge summaries in the EHR
- Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control practices, and participate in ongoing safety initiatives
- Participate in professional development, student supervision, quality improvement, and advocacy efforts as assigned
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, hospital policies, and ASHA best practices
