Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license; must meet South Carolina licensure requirements (Compact RN license accepted if applicable)
- BLS Certification (required prior to first shift)
- ACLS Certification (required prior to first shift)
- Minimum 1 year of bedside clinical experience (2 years highly desired)
- Experience in LTAC, long-term acute care, or similar acute/critical care settings preferred
- Strong clinical assessment, documentation, and care-plan development skills
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive nursing assessments within 8 hours of patient admission
- Develop individualized care plans in collaboration with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams
- Provide direct patient care using the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
- Document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and in a timely manner
- Initiate discharge planning and patient teaching beginning at admission
- Communicate changes in patient status to care team members to ensure continuity and patient safety
- Supervise and provide direction to Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), and orientee staff
- Promote patient and employee safety by adhering to hospital policies, infection control, and safety protocols
- Participate in team building and contribute to a positive, collaborative work environment
- Assume charge nurse responsibilities as requested
- Engage in ongoing professional development and continuing education relevant to LTAC and travel nursing
