Job Details

- Location: Saint Joseph, MO (64505) — Northwest Missouri, near Kansas City
- Setting: Hospital – Occupational Therapy Unit (acute care/rehab support)
- Employment Type: Travel Contract (Travel OTA job)
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks (May 11, 2026 – August 10, 2026)
- Hours per Week: 40
- Shift: 8-hour days (No weekends, no on-call)
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $1400-$1500/week
Required Qualifications
- Active COTA license in Missouri (COTA – MO) required
- Minimum 1 year OTA experience required; 2 years preferred (hospital, LTC, or rehab experience a plus)
- BLS certification from AHA required; CPR certification required
- Strong clinical skills in therapeutic activities, ADL training, transfers, and mobility assistance
- Experience with clinical documentation, patient-centered care plans, and electronic medical records
- Ability to collaborate with Occupational Therapists, nursing staff, patients, and caregivers
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Occupational Therapist in planning and delivering rehabilitation and therapeutic treatments to improve patient mobility and function
- Provide direct patient care for ADLs, therapeutic exercises, adaptive techniques, and assistive device training
- Monitor patient progress, report changes to the OT, and update patient records and progress notes accurately
- Educate patients, family members, and caregivers on therapeutic techniques and home programs to support recovery and independence
- Maintain treatment areas, therapy equipment, and supplies in safe, clean, working order
- Promote patient safety, dignity, and goals focused on improved quality of life and functional independence
Preferred Experience
- Previous hospital-based OTA experience in acute care, inpatient rehab, or skilled nursing settings
- Experience working with orthopedic, neurological, and medically complex patients
- Comfortable using EMR systems and documenting according to facility standards
