Job Details

  • Position Type: Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – PCU / Medical Step Down Unit
  • Assignment Duration: 13 weeks (April 13, 2026 – July 12, 2026)
  • Setting: Medical Step Down Unit (PCU) – 32-bed unit
  • Location: Greenville, NC 27834 (Eastern North Carolina travel nursing)
  • Shift: 12-hour night shifts (NOC), 3 shifts per week, 36 hours/week
  • Patient Ratio: 1:4 (stepdown/PCU)
  • Pay Rate: $83.00/hour
  • Estimated Weekly Salary: $1860-$1960/week

Job Requirements (Travel RN / PCU)

  • Active RN license in North Carolina or Compact State (current and in good standing)
  • Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS required
  • Minimum 2 years recent PCU, stepdown, or progressive care experience
  • EPIC charting experience required (electronic health record proficiency)
  • Travel nursing experience preferred (travel RN, contract nursing)
  • Ability to pass Relias exams (2 attempts allowed)
  • Must reside outside the 80-mile local radius for travel RN eligibility

Responsibilities (PCU / Stepdown Nurse)

  • Provide patient-centered care for medicine patients requiring stepdown level monitoring and support
  • Perform cardiac monitoring, interpret telemetry trends, and respond to changes in patient status
  • Manage central lines and provide tracheostomy/tracheotomy care and respiratory support
  • Perform IV starts, peripheral and arterial blood draws, and IV medication administration
  • Administer and titrate intravenous drips (cardiac, insulin, heparin) and monitor effects
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement high-quality care plans
  • Document in EPIC and maintain accurate clinical records for continuity of care
