- Unit: Miller 6 Ortho Surgical Med/Surg (orthopedic nursing)
- Employment Type: Travel assignment (travel nurse)
- Shift: 12-hour nights (night shift)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Assignment Duration: 16–32 weeks (approx. 26 weeks)
- Start Date: April 6, 2026
- End Date: October 5, 2026
- Orientation: Bi-weekly on Mondays
- Weekend Requirement: Weekends required; travelers may be asked to work more frequently than every other weekend
- Transportation: Personal or rental vehicle strongly recommended (public transit not accessible); vehicles should have all-season or snow tires November–April
Minimum Requirements
- Current RN license in the applicable U.S. state (must meet state requirements)
- Minimum 1 year Med/Surg RN experience required
- Minimum 2 years orthopedic experience required (orthopedic nursing)
- Experience in at least one large teaching or trauma center required
- EPIC EMR experience within the past 2 years (nonnegotiable)
- BLS and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS must be completed prior to start)
- All employment gaps over 30 days must be explained
- Covid and flu declinations accepted (proof or declination required)
- No block schedules permitted
Preferred Qualifications
- ACLS certification preferred
- Prior travel nurse experience preferred; if first travel assignment, 4 years strong Med/Surg with ortho experience required
- Ability to float to like units as needed
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to patients on the Ortho Surgical Med/Surg unit (Med/Surg RN / orthopedic nursing)
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams
- Administer medications, monitor patient progress, and document care using EPIC EMR
- Float to similar units to support patient care when needed
- Deliver patient and family education focused on orthopedic recovery and postoperative care
- Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
- Work weekends and night shifts as required by unit needs
