- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2180-$2290
- Position: Travel CVICU Registered Nurse (RN) / Cardiovascular ICU RN / Critical Care RN
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks (April 20, 2026 – July 20, 2026)
- Hours: 36 hours per week
- Shift: 12-hour rotating shifts (Day: 07:00–19:30, Night: 19:00–07:30); every other weekend and some holidays required
- Employment Type: Travel nursing job / Travel RN
- Patient Population: Adults & Geriatrics (cardiothoracic surgery, heart & lung transplant, advanced cardiac care)
- Unit Size: 27 beds; typical daily census ~26
- Orientation: 24 hours provided
- Parking: Permit required; alternative transportation options available
Required Qualifications / Travel Nurse Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years in CVICU or cardiothoracic surgery (Critical Care RN / CVICU RN experience required)
- Experience with NextStage CVVH machine
- Epic charting experience preferred (within last 12 months)
- Basic arrhythmia interpretation and telemetry skills; must pass telemetry test prior to start
- Active Wisconsin RN license or compact RN license in hand at submission
- BLS & ACLS certifications (American Heart Association only)
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- Trauma Level I experience required
- Permanent address must be at least 50 miles from facility (travel nurse eligibility)
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions accepted)
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, patient-centered critical care in the CVICU for cardiothoracic surgery, heart and lung transplant, and advanced cardiac medical patients
- Manage complex patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure and advanced mechanical circulatory support (LVAD, RVAD, IABP, Impella)
- Provide care for patients on ECMO and continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT/NextStage CVVH)
- Interpret and manage dysrhythmias, telemetry monitoring, and titration of cardiac drips
- Assist with post-operative care following CABG, valve repair/replacement, aneurysm repair, and thoracic surgery
- Perform and assist with procedures including arterial line and sheath management, chest tube insertion/removal, wound care, and central line care
- Utilize Epic for accurate charting, documentation, and communication with interdisciplinary teams
- Float to other units as needed to support staffing and patient care needs
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams: ICU physicians, perfusion, respiratory therapy, physical therapy, pharmacy, IV therapy, and rapid response
- Adhere to infection prevention, isolation precautions, and hospital safety protocols
