Job Details

• Job Title: Med/Surg Telemetry RN / Travel Nurse (Night Shift)
• Location: A leading hospital in Madison, WI
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift: Nights, 3 x 12-hour shifts (19:00 - 07:30); every other weekend and holidays as required
• Hours per Week: 36
• Employment Type: Travel nurse / contract
• Patient Population: Adults (medical-surgical, telemetry, post-surgical, trauma)
• Parking: Permit required for onsite parking; alternative transportation options available
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $2090-$2200

Requirements & Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years acute care Registered Nurse (RN) experience within the last 3 years in Med/Surg/Telemetry units (cardiac, spine, neuro)
• Experience floating across multiple units and specialties preferred
• Epic electronic health record (EHR) charting experience required (preferably within the last 12 months)
• Basic arrhythmia and telemetry monitoring experience required; must pass a telemetry exam prior to start (strict passing criteria)
• Valid Wisconsin (WI) nursing license or compact license from permanent address state — license must be in hand at submittal
• Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association
• Permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the facility (travel nurse eligibility)
• Flu vaccine required (medical or religious exemptions only)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to adult medical-surgical and telemetry patients
• Float across multiple departments and specialties, supporting medical, surgical, and intermediate care units
• Perform cardiac monitoring and telemetry nursing: identify, interpret, and respond to dysrhythmias
• Care for patients with cardiac, neuro, and spine conditions, including post-surgical and trauma care
• Administer IV insulin and heparin protocols; manage surgical drains, chest tubes, feeding tubes, and complex wound care
• Utilize critical thinking to assess patients, recognize complications, and initiate appropriate nursing interventions
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams: IV team, PT/OT, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, case management, and physicians
• Serve as a mentor and role model with opportunities to precept new nurses and nursing students
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and Shared Governance activities
