Ideal for travel nurses and registered nurses with Med/Surg experience who are comfortable on night shift and using EPIC charting.
Job Details
- Location: Wilmington, NC (28401) — travel nursing job in coastal North Carolina
- Position Title: Med/Surg Registered Nurse (RN) / Travel Nurse
- Contract Length: 13 weeks (option to extend)
- Shift: 12-hour nights (18:45 - 07:15) — night shift RN
- Hours per Week: 36 or 48 (no OT billed until after 48 hours)
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $1620-$1710/week
- Unit: Medicine III - RN (General Med/Surg, daily census ~43)
- Orientation: 24 hours
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday Requirement: Must be able to work holidays
Job Requirements / Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg RN experience (medical-surgical RN, MedSurg RN)
- EPIC charting experience required — experience with electronic health records (EHR)
- Must be able to manage insulin and heparin drips
- BCLS certification required
- NC RN license or Compact RN license required at time of start
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start
- Charge nurse experience and CPI certification preferred
- Traveler experience: unit will accept first-time travelers — travel nursing friendly
- Must be comfortable floating to similar units and alternate care locations
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only)
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, patient-centered care to adult and geriatric Med/Surg patients
- Administer and monitor insulin and heparin drips; manage complex medications via PYXIS
- Perform wound vac dressing changes and manage high-flow oxygen therapy
- Document patient care accurately using EPIC (EHR) and follow unit charting standards
- Collaborate in interdisciplinary care with IV teams, PT, RT, pharmacy, and physicians
- Float to similar units and alternate care locations as needed
- Assume charge nurse responsibilities during night shifts when required
- Participate on the Inclement Weather Team and Storm/Hurricane Team as needed
- Adhere to isolation precautions, PPE protocols, and care protocols for COVID and infectious patients
