Qualifications / Job Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience as an Occupational Therapist (OT), hospital or inpatient rehab experience preferred
• Valid, current State license as an Occupational Therapist (must meet Michigan licensure requirements prior to start)
• BLS Certification (required prior to first shift)
• Experience with ADL training, adaptive equipment recommendations, and discharge planning preferred
• Strong documentation skills in electronic medical records (EMR) and familiarity with department policies

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive inpatient occupational therapy evaluations and treatment plans consistent with current standards and regulations
• Assess patients' functional levels and implement evidence-based OT interventions to improve activities of daily living (ADLs) and mobility
• Recommend and train patients and families on adaptive equipment, home modifications, and safety strategies
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, care coordination, and discharge planning to support successful transitions of care
• Complete timely, accurate documentation according to department policies and medical record standards
• Supervise Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs), OT and COTA students, and assist with new staff orientation when needed
• Promote patient and staff safety by adhering to facility guidelines and infection control practices
• Demonstrate professional communication and customer service with patients, families, visitors, and staff
• Maintain flexibility in scheduling and collaborate with team members to resolve conflicts and ensure continuity of care
• Protect patient confidentiality and establish trust with patients and families
