- Assignment Duration: 13 weeks (April 6, 2026 – July 6, 2026)
- Position: Oncology Registered Nurse (RN) / Chemotherapy Nurse (Travel Nurse)
- Shift: Day shift, 3 x 12-hour shifts per week (07:15 – 18:45)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Unit: Oncology (MMC6220-2E ONCOLOGY)
- Patient Census: 24 beds/rooms — typical patient ratio 6–7 patients per nurse
- Charting / EMR: Cerner (Cerner EMR experience preferred)
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend; holiday coverage as needed
- Scrub Color: Any solid color
- Parking: Free with permit
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $2000-$2100
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year recent inpatient oncology RN experience (chemotherapy/oncology unit)
- Active Illinois RN license (in hand or currently in application)
- BLS certification (AHA or Red Cross required)
- Chemo certification (ONS/ONCC) preferred — chemotherapy administration experience preferred
- Experience with Cerner EHR/EMR preferred
- Comfortable floating within the hospital and to affiliate hospitals as needed
- Experience in Level I/II trauma, community hospital, and LTAC settings preferred
- Able to manage typical oncology patient ratios (6–7 patients) and complete compliance/orientation promptly
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to adult and geriatric oncology patients on an inpatient oncology unit
- Administer chemotherapy safely (IV, oral, continuous infusion, IV push), manage cytotoxic spills, and handle post-chemotherapy body fluid precautions
- Monitor and interpret lab values, recognize abnormalities related to chemotherapy, and communicate findings to the interdisciplinary team
- Perform IV therapy and infusion duties: access ports, central/PICC line care, blood product administration, and initiate IVs
- Provide patient and family education, symptom management, and discharge teaching related to oncology care
- Collaborate closely with PT, RT, pharmacy, social services, case management, and rapid response teams to coordinate patient-centered care
- Float to other units as needed to support facility staffing and patient needs
- Participate in weekend rotation and holiday coverage as required
