Job Details
- Location: Springfield, IL 62781 (Springfield healthcare, central Illinois)
- Facility Type: Acute Care Hospital, Magnet-recognized, Level I Trauma Center
- Assignment Duration: 13 weeks (April 6, 2026 – July 6, 2026)
- Role: Cardiac Stepdown RN / Telemetry Nurse (travel nursing opportunity)
- Shift: Night shift, 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts (18:45 – 07:15)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Patient Census: Average daily census of 38
- Scrub Color: Any solid color
- Parking: Free with permit
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $2,000 - $2,100 per week
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of recent Cardiac Stepdown, IMC, Telemetry, or PCU experience (ideal for telemetry nurses and stepdown RN candidates)
- Active Illinois RN license required at time of application (Illinois nursing jobs)
- ACLS and BLS certifications (AHA or Red Cross only)
- NIHSS certification preferred
- Experience with Cerner electronic charting system required
- Previous charge nurse, teaching hospital, or Level I trauma experience preferred
- Ability to float to similar units (ICU stepdown or telemetry) as needed
- Proven ability to interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias, telemetry monitoring, and emergency response
- Experience with post-cardiac procedures, hemodialysis management, IV therapy, and wound care
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care to adult patients in the Cardiac Stepdown unit (cardiac care, post-op cardiac care)
- Monitor and manage cardiac conditions including post-cardiac angiogram, MI, cardiac cath, and post-operative cardiac surgery patients
- Interpret and respond to cardiac dysrhythmias and continuous telemetry data
- Administer and titrate cardiac and vasoactive infusions/drips per protocol
- Perform IV therapy, phlebotomy, and manage central and peripheral lines
- Care for patients with feeding tubes, surgical drains, chest tubes, and respiratory support devices
- Implement isolation precautions and wound care protocols
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including IV team, respiratory therapy, physical therapy, and rapid response
- Float to like units as needed to meet facility needs
- Educate patients and families on cardiac health, recovery plans, and discharge instructions
